This morning early we left Breda for Eindhoven where we caught our flight back to the UK. We were so happy that we had not decided to come back yesterday as all flights were cancelled because of the snow in the UK. Today the snow was still around and the train from Stanstead did not run so we caught one to Liverpool Street and got off at some small station to change to another train to Cambridge where we were able to get the connection from Kings Cross to Downham Market. What an adventure but all went so smoothly and we even managed to make the same connection that we had planned to make had our train from Stanstead been running. The train we took was on a different schedule so at one point had to stop and phone through to get permission to carry on along the line. The snow scenes were lovely but oooh was it cold sitting on the stations waiting for the different connections. At least none of the waits were longer than 10 minutes so we did not freeze. Once on the trains we had to strip off all the outer ware otherwise we would have melted as the heating was on full tilt. Once we arrived at Downham Market we were sad to see that most of the snow here had melted except for some huge snowballs on the lawn in front of our house. All was well here and Douglas got to his afternoon meetings and later will have another meeting in one of the villages. Already the time away seems like an age ago but oh what wonderful memories we have.
