The long day draws to a close

We only had to be at the station in time to catch the 19h53 train to Ely so spent some time in the library reading as well as at the park near the lake where we also managed to get something to drink. There was evidence of trains where ever we went.

We had planned to have our evening meal at the station but when we arrived there at 18h15 we discovered that everything was closed so we feasted on some grapes that were left over from my breakfast because we did not have the energy to walk back into the center of town to find some food. We did more reading until the train arrived. (I managed to start and finish a book during the day out)

Children enjoyed the playground near the cafe where we had some good coffee.

We did not sample their ice cream because we had enjoyed ours at the steam trains.

We have a similar merry go round in Lynn during the summer months
Our connection to Downham from Ely was the last train of the day from London so we were happy that there had been no delays as I did not want to spend much more time on a train station. Arriving home at 22h35 meant we had some "cup of soup" and then went straight to bed because we had another early morning the following day. We had to be in one of the villages by 08h00 for the fellowship breakfast.
