We are South Africans with South African Passports and for this reason we need visas when we want to travel. Our USA visa is valid for 10 years so we can always go there but when we want to go to Europe our visa is only valid for 1 year. As we are both planning another trip to The Netherlands, we needed to visit London to make our application for this visa. We went by train to Kings Cross and took the tube to the visa application centre and then took buses back to Kings Cross so that we could catch our train back to Downham Market. I love the train journey and the tube is fine too. The buses are great as they are free to us because we are senior citizens, but the pavements are a nightmare. The people are all on their own mission and bump into you if you do not get out of their way. Not a good experience at all. We were very happy to be back in the country town where everyone greets you with a smile and often a chat. The slower pace suits us well and so we only go into London when we have no other option at all.
