85. Our first Rail problems

Evelyn and Henrik went to London on Saturday morning and planned to return on Sunday in time for me to get Douglas to church at Southery but that was before we hit the problem with the railway travel over a weekend. All was fine getting to London but once there they found that several lines were not working so much walking had to be experienced. Coming home was another problem as the train only went as far as Ely and the bus from Ely would get back too late to get Douglas to his service in time. We decided to fetch them at Ely and drop Douglas off at his service on the way back. He was fortunate to be able to get a lift back to Downham so that I did not have to make another trip. Poor Evangeline. It had been a day of car travel for her as the service in the morning was at Potts Row in the Kings Lynn area. Yes the dreaded round-about had to be faced twice. Praise the Lord that Evangeline is such a good baby. She slept all the way to the service in the morning and then was so good in church. Everyone loved having her there and she loved singing along and crawling up the aisle just to check that Grandpa was doing what he had to do. Granny kept charging after her much to every ones amusement. She had a rice cake when it was time for communion so was happy to just receive a blessing from her Grandpa. After the service she was quite happy to sit on one of the lady's lap. On the way back to Downham she slept again so I was very surprised when she still managed a two hour nap in the afternoon. Then it was back in the car to fetch the Mommy and Daddy. We had a detour via Littleport and through Ely to the station. What joy for her to see the Mommy again. I don't know who was happier, the Mommy or Evangeline. The car had decided to make itself known by having a hole in the silencer, so this morning it was off to the local Garage to have that fixed as I did not like the fact that the pedestrians stopped to see what all the noise was about. Fortunately they could do something about it this morning as the days this week seem to be very busy and the car would be needed then. No time for photos as I had been using the video camera to have a record of the happy time we had with Evangeline.
