On the move again

I have come to Cape Town for a week to attend my 50 year High School Reunion.

The two little girls both came to say goodbye to the Granny before going to school.

When asked if she would miss the Granny, Rachel said "Yes, I will miss the pink milk and the TV".
Evangeline just wanted to know why I had to go. So I accept that I will be missed and I too will miss them.

Vera and Bradley were both off so were able to take me to the airport where we enjoyed a snack before the emotional brave goodbyes.

Susan was at the airport to meet me and take me to visit her friends for supper. The little ones there remembered me from my last visit because of my iPad and soon were in their Mom's room having iPad time together while the adults enjoyed catch up time.

It was quite late when we got home but we still managed to do more chatting before falling asleep, lots had happened in the year since we were last together.

The following morning Susan had a work related meeting to which I was invited but I opted to rather spend the time at Canal Walk, a huge shopping Mall next door to where her meeting was held.

It was a bit early for the shops to be open when I was dropped off because they only open at 9.00am, so I decided to have a coffee and a snack at the Wimpy while waiting. (I had breakfast before we left but knew I would need more energy if I was going to be walking for 4 hours.)

There were two levels that I decided to explore. I started at one end and did the circular route of the lower level and then went upstairs to do the upper level. The Mall is very similar to the Malls in Qatar so there were plenty of benches for me to rest on and do some reading before continuing on my way.

The alley ways between the main walkways reminded me of the Souq in Doha with all the little shops huddled together.

I was also reminded of the Old Navy stores in USA when I saw this SA version.

While I was reading I was surprised to see a train going past and thought of how much the grandchildren would enjoy the experience of riding on a train among all the shoppers in the Mall.

Susan came to meet me, after the 4 hours, and found me where I was reading and resting my sore feet. My back pack was filled with items I had bought and now I am thinking of a strategy to not be overweight on my flight to Doha next Sunday.

We did lots more chatting before bed time but I decided that today I would give the hike a miss and instead have spent the morning with a hot water bottle on my lap. It is freezing here. Susan and Honey have gone on the hike and hopefully will have some pictures to show me when they return this afternoon.

I am still stressing about the reunion. Hope I remember "whose who in the zoo" when I get to the school on Friday. I am happy that my friend Anne has said that she will be there so I will at least know one person there. Vera was shocked when I said that maybe I would still be too sick to attend. I am however feeling much better so won't be able to use that excuse.
