Today was Sharmie's Birthday. She was 100 years old and so she was "At Home" in the Town Hall. The crowd was unbelievable. The queues stretched out of the Hall and down the road as the people waited patiently to congratulate Miss Sharman. Some brought old school photos to show her and one person brought a garment made in the sewing class so many years ago, another even brought his report card signed by her. Of course there was the beautiful card sent by Her Majesty, the Queen, that everyone wanted to see as they are all sure that they will never receive one. There was a wonderful spread of eats and everyone had a good time catching up with friends and acquaintances that they had not seen for many years. I was exhausted after the 3 and a half hours when we left but Sharmie was still greeting folk and seemed to have endless energy. I think it will take her the rest of the week to go through all the greeting cards and I am sure her house will look like a Florist with all the flowers she received.
