Cake for Tea

Today we had another celebration because one of the congregation had her 90 Birthday. We all got to have a slice of Birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday to her during the service. I must say I had not realised that she had reached that age as she is still very active and even plays Carpet bowls at church every week. They sure do live longer here in the UK. Must be the good health service(NHS)and healthier climate.

Another Golden Wedding Anniversary

Today we were blessed to be able to share in another Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration. We were invited to share a meal at Arbuckles and what a joy that was. The food was delicious, the company good and the entertainment delightful. The older grandchildren entertained us by playing on their keyboards. The "Groom's" speech was entertaining as he used a copy of the newspaper for the day of the wedding 50 years ago to illustrate how much has changed and then he also spoke of what has not changed in the 50 years. All very entertaining. The bridesmaids and bestman were there too as well as all their children, 2 boys and a girl, and all the grandchildren ranging in age from teenagers to a couple of months. All helped to make the celebration very special and we felt blessed to have been included in this gathering of family and friends.

Thinking Day Celebrations

Once again I was blessed to be able to take part in Thinking Day Celebrations. Barbara collected me and off we went to Kings Lynn to a Trefoil Guild Meeting. We had a great time of fun and laughter. We played games, some envolved thinking others were just fun, we then lit candles and did our penny collections in remembrance of all the places where Guiding takes place. A bonus was that for every candle there was a tiny cupcake to enjoy. I lit the candle for South Africa. We then had a Campfire type sing song and I found it fantastic that all over the world Guides might wear different uniforms but yet so much of what they do is the same. I felt very much at home. I think that maybe I will attend these meetings every month unless my taxi duties are required.
