New Year's Party at the church.

This afternoon we had a New Year's Party at the local church. It was a Bring and Share with games and dances. What fun we had. We were all taught different dances and also had to exercise our brains doing different quizzes. There was something for everyone. We played games we had last played in our childhood. Unfortunately we were not always successful at throwing the dice so forfeits had to be paid. The food was good as was the company and after the three hours we returned home exhausted.

A Walk on the White Side

We have been confined indoors for a few days because of the snow and slippery roads so Douglas and I decided to go for a walk to see different parts of our neighbourhood. It was oh so beautiful but even on foot it was quite slippery when we wanted to cross over the road to the other pavement so I was pleased that we were walking and not driving. As we got back home we could see the Manse clearly but our footprints in the open field were not visible at all.

118. Snow everywhere

On Sunday we had three services and as it had snowed on New Years day, and because some of the Christmas snow had not disappeared, driving was a nightmare. The roads were covered with ice where snow had been impacted and then frozen. The temperatures were in minus degrees so it was bitterly cold outside. This South African found all the driving rather daunting but never the less managed to do the three trips without getting stuck or hitting another vehicle.
The countryside was beautiful to behold and that made up for the stress on the road. Two of the services were in different villages so we got to see quite a bit of the countryside.
On Monday I had the dreaded round-about because Douglas had to take a Funeral service at the Crematorium in Kings Lynn. Fortunately the main road had been gritted but the section into and out of the Crematorium area was very slippery and being on a slope made it more difficult too. Once again prayer got me through but after the scary trip to the Care Home in Downham that afternoon I opted for a longer drive home instead of the usual route that was by now too slippery. Going to the Home I had felt as though I was driving on an ice rink and with the cars parked in the road this was a very scary experience.
Now today it is snowing again but the one Bible Study at Feltwell has been cancelled because the elderly folk did not want to go out onto the slippery pavements so I have been spared driving along country lanes covered in ice and snow. We will see what tomorrow holds. Life is beautiful and exciting.
